Plan Your Hiawatha Trail Ride
-
You’ll get a full safety briefing at the trailhead and we’ll ensure your bike fits properly. We will walk you through how the e-Bike works, what to expect on the trail, and how to handle hills and tunnels.
-
The Hiawatha is a 15-mile rail-to-trail route with a gentle grade -- great for riders of all skill levels. You will ride out and back through tunnels and over trestles with sweeping mountain views. Plan for 4-5 hours on the trail. Do not take High Voltage rentals on the Hiawatha shuttle bus as the terrain causes damage to our bikes. During peak season (June-September), the wait for a shuttle ride can exceed 2 hours. Riding out and back on your bike will likely get you back to the East Portal in less time and the e-Bike makes it manageable for riders of all levels.
-
Layers — the tunnels are chilly year-round
Water and a packed lunch (food available at trailheads but limited)
A change of clothes & sturdy shoes — the tunnels are muddy (our bike fenders minimize but don’t eliminate wheel spray)
Who Can Ride
Our e-Bikes are suitable for most adults in good health. Keep in mind that e-Bikes are heavier than analog bikes - our lighter model is 58lbs. No stress booking includes us fitting the bikes for you prior to arriving at the trail.
Our bikes can accommodate riders from 4’11” - 6’4” up to 400lbs.
If you have questions about fitment or whether the trail is right for you, reach out before booking — we're happy to help you plan.
