ROUTE OF THE HIAWATHA

THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME. DELIVERED.

The Route of the Hiawatha winds through the Bitterroot Mountains along a historic railroad corridor — 15 miles of gentle downhill through 10 tunnels and across 7 sky-high trestles with views that stop you in your tracks.

We deliver a fully outfitted, step-through pedal-assist e-Bike directly to the East Portal trailhead. Your bike arrives fitted to your height, fully charged, and ready to go. After a quick trailside safety briefing, you ride out at your own pace — no shuttle schedule, no gear to haul, no experience required.

The longest tunnel — the Taft Tunnel — runs 1.66 miles through solid mountain. Your bike's built-in light handles the darkness. You just ride.

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

If you've ridden a standard bike, you can ride ours. We cover everything — pedal assist, braking, and trail expectations — in a 30-minute briefing before you head out.

NO MINIMUM GROUP SIZE

Solo riders, couples, and groups up to 4 are all welcome. We cap bookings at 4 riders per day total — so your experience is always personal.

NO SHUTTLE NEEDED

Your rental is out-and-back from East Portal. No shuttle schedule to keep, no waiting in line — ride at your own pace and turn around whenever you're ready.

Before You Book

It only takes a few minutes. Pick your date, tell us how many riders, and we will have everything ready when you arrive.

Trail Passes

Trail passes are required to ride the Hiawatha and are purchased separately through Lookout Pass. Adult passes range from $20-$40 with an online reservation. Same-day ticket prices on site at Lookout Pass or at the trailhead are higher.  Visit ridethehiawatha.com for more information.

No need to buy a shuttle pass!

As stated in our Agreement your e-Bike rental from High Voltage may not be transported on the Hiawatha shuttle. Plan to ride out-and-back on your rental (a full 30 miles). Our e-Bikes make the mild incline back up the trail manageable for riders of all levels. Avoid the wait and enjoy a more complete experience!
